It was a grate honer be a speaker at WSIS High-level Dialogue: 15 Years of the Implementation of WSIS, among some distinguished personalities of the world.

I expressed my ideas on how we need to strengthen girls ICT education while ensuring Inclusion, equality, localisation,  empowerment, innovation and most importantly creating global partnerships to achieve 2030 agenda

WSIS Regional Review 2020 - United Nations ESCAP and ITU

It was an honour to speak at WSIS Regional Review 2020 Hosted by United Nations ESCAP and ITU (International Telecommunication Union).

Online Student Coding Championship and online IoT Hackathon


We successfully held our scratch Student Coding Championship and Nextgen IoT Hackathon completely online. This was a great milestone for the Nextgen Girls in Technology team. 

113 school students participated in the Student Coding Championship and 90+ participated in the Award ceremony. 19 university teams from around Srilanka competed in Nextgen IoT Hackathon and more 
than 100 participated Nextgen IoT Hackathon Award ceremony

Voices of the Sea documentary short selected for "Community Films and Exploring Creativity Summit"

Voices of the Sea documentary short directed by me has been selected for "Community Films and Exploring Creativity Summit" by Adobe and TakingITGlobal. The film tackles the new emergence of Colombo port city and its damning effects on the fishery community in Modara.

Girls in Technology and NextGen IoT Responding to Covid 19 Lockdown

Responding to Covid 19 Lockdown Girls in Technology and NextGen IoT initiated a free online training program for Sri Lankan students and teachers in computer programming and web development
Yesterday we completed our first season Reaching 268 Teachers and 122 Students through 50 online sessions.
The 2nd season starts mid-May

Dialog’s Ideamart partners Shilpa Sayura Foundation to enable Sri Lanka’s future IoT economy

Ideamart, a platform for developers and content providers presented by Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity provider, has partnered with the Shilpa Sayura Foundation for ‘NextGen IoT’, a programme that works to educate, train and mentor young Sri Lankans to gain industry skills in Internet of Things (IoT) and Information Security.

NextGen IoT assist individuals to gain employment in the industry by creating a learning path for IoT and Information Security, identifying, training and incubating IoT developers and supporting the development and monetisation of innovative IoT applications.  

Poornima Meegammana - Director, Youth Development of the Shilpa Sayura Foundation said, “This foundation was launched to empower youth with the knowledge and skills required to face emerging socio economic and environmental challenges using social innovations, powered by emerging technology and NextGen IoT is the ideal programme to instil this mentality and skillset in Sri Lanka’s future developer generation.”

Girls in Technology was at Shilpasena Exhibition - Sri Lanka's largest tech exhibition for 3 days creating awareness and giving IoT experiences to a large number of school and university girls, teachers, parents and policymakers.
